Tom Brady has developed a reputation for being the ultimate competitor. In his pursuit of perfection for the sport he plays, he has conjured a legacy like none other. While all these are hard facts, it is also a fact that he was not always like this. According to the quarterback’s father, Thomas Brady Sr. he was once a very sore competitor, if at all. The tale entails a 4-year-old Tom, milkshakes, and a dead last position in an alternate shot golf competition with his father.

Brady Sr. once shared the story of him and his son going to an alternate shot golf competition. The 7 time Super Bowl champion was only 4 back then. And he had the ambitions of a 4-year-old as well. Telling us about this father/son competition, Brady Sr. said, “all he was really interested in was drinking milkshakes, driving the cart, and hitting the golf ball.” In this alternate shot challenge, the duo would take turns to hit the ball, hence alternating between themselves. But in this case, the son wanted to be the only one hitting the ball. Often getting upset over missing his chances to smash the ball.

The day went by and with his son more interested in having his way on the course instead of winning. The results were not what we have come to expect of the quarterback. “Needless to say, we came in dead last in the tournament.” said Brady’s dad. However, at the end of the day, it must have been worth it for him as he got his milkshakes in, regardless of the result.
