Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants Cooper Rush to play his A Game and make it hard when their main QB Dak Prescott returns to action. The Mike McCarthy-coached Cowboys lost their key player as he fractured his thump in the season opener against the Buccaneers. While talking about Prescott’s replacement, Jones said he’d welcome QB controversy as it gives his team a luxury of options.

“Of course I want it. If Rush comes in there and plays as well as Prescott played … over these next games ahead, I’d walk to New York to get that,” the team owner said. The 79-year-old added he wants Prescott to be available next week.

The experienced Jones said he and Prescott want Rush to lead the team to a victory. JJ added he is committed to Prescott as the Dallas starter on the team for the rest of 2022. “But Dak and I want Rush to lead the team to a victory here and get another win. Looking back, when Dak was playing instead of Tony, it was game by game,” he added.

The Cowboys will meet Giants in Week 3 and the team has concerns about the injury of their impact maker. However, JJ sounded confident about Rush’s skills. When will Prescott make a return?

Prescott is likely to return by Week 4, according to Cowboys CEO Stephen Jones. The 29-year-old QB is one of the game’s highest-paid players. He signed a $160 million extension with the Cowboys for four years. The manager wants both Prescott and Rush to be available at the same time but did not elaborate if he would field them both for playing.
