The NFL saw one of the best-ever Quarterbacks, Tom Brady, retire last season. With what seems to be his final retirement from NFL, Tom has seemingly gained a new perspective and is advising former rivals. Tom Brady understands the toll it can take on someone who goes from preparing for an NFL season or any sporting season all year round. Then having to go having so much time you don’t know what to do with it.

With more than one sport seeing legends nearing the end of their careers, Tom reflects on his career and empathizes. Having gone through what many have gone through and many will go through, Tom reflects on the challenges of retirement.

LeBron James is one of the best basketball players ever and especially one of the best ever in the NBA. Having multiple NBA championship rings, and establishing his mark on the game, he is at a crossroads. Having floated the idea of retirement, he is considering hanging up his boots as the Lakers bowed out of the 2023 playoffs at the Conference Finals.

Tom talks to Sports Illustrated and helps shed light on what James could be going through. When asked about what LeBron could be going through, Tom responds, “it’s interesting, I think, as athletes you know, we want to be so proactive with our own decision making. It’s hard to just sit back and let things come to us.”

With the future of James unclear, Tom says, “but based on what i watch, he’s still an amazing talent and amazing player. He’s got a lot to give in the game of basketball, if he so chooses, if he continues to play basketball, I’ll love it.” Tom continues in the conversation with SI and ends with “I’ll be very happy for him, that he gets to move on to other parts of his life, that i know he’s gonna be great at too.”

Aaron Rodgers is experiencing a new light in the NFL after switching franchises from the Packers to the Jets. Tom talks to Yahoo Sports reporter Jori Epstein and mentions the challenges his friend/rival can face. Tom says, “I think it’s really an opportunity. I don’t think it’s– you know, everybody’s got their challenges at the beginning of the year. There’s a lot of change that happens in the NFL every year.”

Tom continues in his assessment and mentions, “Obviously, when quarterbacks change teams, certainly the way that Aaron did, there’s a lot of eyes. There’s a lot of expectation. But there’s players that change every year. Coaches change.”

Brady is sending wishes and advice to his friends and peers as they head into a new venture, a new team. With LeBron and Aaron on different paths, he is hopeful and wishes luck in whatever they choose.
