How Trevor Lawrence Surgery Will Affect the NFL 2021 Draft

Joe Burrow endured a rough outing in his debut season with the Cincinnati Bengals. The 2020 #1 overall pick suffered season-ending knee injuries midway through the season.
Despite playing behind a poor offensive line, Burrow showed heart throwing for 2,688 yards and 13 touchdowns. Clemson Tigers QB Trevor Lawrence must’ve taken note.
The Knoxville-born lad put on a show during Clemson’s Pro Day earlier this week. Jacksonville Jaguars HC and college football legend, Urban Meyer was also present at the event. But what many didn’t know was that Lawrence was performing while nursing a shoulder labrum injury on his non-throwing arm.

Why did he go through the trouble? “Just to show them I’m not different than anyone else, I’m able to adjust and adapt, that was important to me,” Lawrence said.

The 21-year-old Trevor Lawrence will undergo shoulder surgery this week. He is expected to spend a 5-6 month spell on the sidelines. He is scheduled to complete rehab just in time for preseason.

But with the NFL Draft set to be held on April 29th, will teams such as the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, or even the Atlanta Falcons hesitate to take a bet and pick Lawrence due to his injury niggle? We don’t think so.

Lawrence finished the 2020 season as a Heisman Trophy runner-up. He threw for 3,153 passing yards with 24 passing touchdowns. He finished his 3-year Clemson spell with more than 10,000+ passing yards and 90+ touchdowns.

Coach Meyer from the Jaguars will not think twice before making Lawrence the #1 pick. Of course, Ohio State’s Justin Fields and Alabama’s De’Vonta Smith are also bright young prospects. But Trevor is considered the ideal man to usher in a new era in Jacksonville.
