Brees had appeared on Conan. He had spoken to the host about various things. The chief among them was a discussion the two had had over the infamous Deflategate scandal. When questioned about the controversy, Brees had an odd reaction.

Conan asked Brees his thoughts on the scandalous matter. Drees replied very cryptically. The quarterback mentioned how every year, leading up to the playoffs there is something or the other that becomes the media’s focal point. Furthermore, he said, “I will be asked this a thousand times and to be honest with you I just, I kind of chuckle because I’m just glad it has nothing to do with us.” The controversy involving the inflation and deflation of football certainly gained a lot of traction back in the day. In fact, it even caused some problems for major players in the league.

The Deflategate Scandal

Deflategate was the name given to a famous controversy that happened during the Super Bowl of 2015. It suggested that the Patriots used an illegal process to lower the air pressure in the footballs used during the game. The scandal’s conspiracy theory also claimed that deflating the footballs was done because of Tom Brady and his preference for gripping softer footballs. While nothing was actually proven, Brady had to bare the brunt of the scandal.

Brady suffered a 4 game suspension after the Deflategate scandal. The incident still goes down in history as a stain in Brady’s otherwise stellar career. However, the scandal was big enough to get Brees involved and questioned while he was on a TV show. The intensity of the scandal makes one wonder what goes on in the inner workings of the NFL.
