Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not just losing games, but players too. In a 17-23 loss against the Cleveland Browns, the Bucs lost a very valuable offensive player to an injury in his left leg.

This blow to the Bucs’ offensive line could not have come at a worse time. In a heartbreaking scene, right tackle Tristan Wirfs was carted off the field. Head coach Todd Bowles did not have much to say about the injury but mentioned that it was tough to lose a player of Wirfs’ caliber. After Wirfs left the field, on the next play quarterback, Tom Brady was taken to the ground by Browns defensive end, Myles Garrett.

Tom Brady thinks the situation is “awful”

After the game, Brady was asked about Wirfs’ injury. He said“Yeah, it’s awful, it’s awful for us, it’s awful for him.” Brady does not underestimate the value Wirfs adds to his offense. “So it’s, you know, he’s a great player for us so other guys in they’re gonna have to do a good job but you know it’s hard to replace him”

Tight end Mike Evans felt like the Bucs should’ve never been in that situation. He also added that he wished he could’ve played a better part in preventing Wirfs’ injury. This loss is extremely frustrating for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, given their inconsistency this season. But things may be looking up for them in terms of Tristan Wirfs’ return to the field.

Good news for Brady and the Bucs?

Fox Sports’ Greg Auman tweeted, “Tristan Wirfs’ injury might not be a [sis] severe as feared. He walked around locker room, showered, had a boot on his left foot only as he left the locker room. There’s hope it isn’t as long-term as it could be..” NFL Network’s James Palmer also said that Wirfs’ X-Ray came back negative, but an MRI is to be done. Auman confirmed this update and specified that the MRI results will give insight into the severity and extent of the damage. The team will breathe a sigh of relief if the results follow the same optimistic path.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently slipped to 5-6. Despite their poor record, they are still in the number one spot in a week NFC South. They will take on the New Orleans Saints in their next bout. Bucs fans will anticipate a return of their team’s former glory, even though the Bucs have not shown much of it this season.
