New Orleans Saints took the Mercedes-Benz Superdome by storm as they won their week 8 clash against the defending Super Bowl champions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, bad news struck the Saints as head coach Sean Payton revealed that Jameis Winston has suffered a ‘significant’ knee injury, probably damaging his ACL.

Medical staff carted Winston off the field in the second quarter of the game after Buccaneers linebacker, Devin White tackled him down and was flagged 15 yards for it as he pulled Winston down by the shoulder area of his jersey. Winston’s awkward landing got his left leg pinned behind the linebacker, sidelining him for the rest of the game.

Jameis Winston with a possible season-ending injury

“I cried when I saw him coming in,” said Payton. He admitted that “It’s hard” to lose a quarterback like him to a season-ending injury. Winston danced while on crutches during the Saints post-game locker room celebration, so was the case in the C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s Instagram feed.

After the unfortunate departure of Winston from the game, veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian took over the reins and led the Saints to a 36-27 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Trevor completed 16 of 29 pass attempts covering 159 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions, putting the Saints in a dominating position.

“First, I want to say how gutted I am for Jameis. This win was for him,” said Siemian. “I just feel for the guy. I love him so much. Just being around him, you can’t help it. He’s got this infectious personality. And you’re just frickin’ gutted when you see anybody hurt. But watching him get hurt was tough.”
