It’s been more than seven months since former Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown has stayed away from the field. Even though he vows to pursue music and evolve as one of the greatest artists in the rap world, it seems his inclination has always been toward the sport.

Recently, the veteran expressed his desire to play again and specifically hinted toward playing with Jerry Jones-owned Cowboys. However, his request was instantly rejected by the Billionaire even before it could catch the media’s attention.

Antonio Brown was known for making controversial exits from the teams. Whether it be the Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, or the recent ones at Tampa Bay, everything adds to a similar situation. Well, this might be the reason behind Jones’ blunt response to the wideout. While speaking to a media outlet last week discussing his NFL future, the former Super Bowl champion said, “Tell Jerry Jones to call me!”

However, the response didn’t go well as expected. Jerry Jones affirmed he respected Brown’s request but would like to continue with the youngsters in the upcoming season. “We’re good,” Jones says of AB’s interest. “But, we want to give these young guys a real chance to make this team,” he added.

In the past two seasons with the Buccaneers, Brown played in 18 games. He registered 95 receptions for 1,109 yards and recorded ten touchdowns. The seven-time Pro Bowl is undoubtedly one of the best wide receivers, but his on-field conduct had always been a matter of worry for the franchises.

After James Washington got injured, the situation drastically changed in the Cowboys’ locker room. However, Jones remained unfazed and is confident to move ahead with the rookies and a veteran quarterback at the center.

“Let’s give these young guys the incentive, our young receivers,” owner and general manager Jerry Jones said. “We thought highly of them when we came out. We’ll get [Washington] rehabbed … But it doesn’t create an urgency for us to add a veteran receiver. We like these young guys.” he added.

In the first game of the preseason, the Cowboys had to face a frustrating defeat at the hands of the Denver Broncos (17-7). The upcoming face-off is against the Los Angeles Chargers on the 21st of August. It will be interesting to know how viable this decision will prove for the Cowboys’ victory.
