Jimmy Garoppolo and the rest of the San Francisco 49ers endured a tough outing in the 2019 Super Bowl LIV in Miami. The 49ers succumbed to a 31-20 defeat at the hands of the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs.
The 49ers were leading by 20-10 before the fourth quarter. However, Mahomes and Co. sealed a stunning comeback to crush Kyle Shanahan’s dominant side and snatched their dream right out of their hands.
The 49ers will start the 2020 season as one of the favorites to make the playoffs. The NFC West franchise will back Head Coach Kyle Shanahan to build a formidable defense yet again as they set their sights on the Super Bowl Trophy.

As far as stats are concerned, Garoppolo had a decent season in 2019. The 49ers’ offense is built around their star running backs and wide receivers.
In addition, Shanahan is renowned for building a strong defense, a trait that helped them make the Super Bowl last time out. However, if its the championship ring they’re after, Shanahan must place more trust in his star quarterback.

“That’s the thing that this season is really about, to me, is Kyle and Jimmy, and Jimmy earning Kyle’s trust. And Kyle might say, ‘I trust him 100 percent.’ I don’t doubt that.
“The perception is another piece of the puzzle, and we want to see that out in the play calling and in key moments.

“There’s something about Kyle and him that you felt through the playoffs, a lack of trust. And whether it was true or just perception, it doesn’t matter, at some level.
“That’s the number one thing, if I were Jimmy, that I would be focused on is making sure both truth and perceptually, that Kyle trusts me and is willing to put the ball in my hands at any time, at any place, in any form, and continually,” Steve Young told KNBR 680 via NBCSports.
Last year, Jimmy Garoppolo completed 69 percent of his passes for the 49ers. He threw for 3,978 yards and made 27 touchdowns with just 13 interceptions.
