While Rodgers’ move to the Jets is fully done, there seem to be some vestigial feelings for his old Green Bay teammates. However, there is still some detail that needs to be ironed out on Rodgers’ deal. Specifically, a detail that might keep him in New York for a minimum of two years and costs almost $108 million.

Rodgers’ deal with the New York Jets was made, keeping in mind that the Jets did not want their cap space to take too much of a hit. However, it seems like his leave from the Packers might have made his payment a little complicated. After the trade occurred, the Jets realized that accepting the QB as is might end up decreasing the cap space they have left. This is due to Rodgers pushing the entirety of his bonus option prior to the trade.

Therefore, in order to accommodate this as well as keep a decent cap space, the Jets might place Rodgers on a minimum salary for this season. However, this would mean that next year, Rodgers would be looking for a payout of a whopping $107.55 million. While these are still speculations and nothing has been confirmed, it is highly possible that Rodgers might become the recipient of a huge compensation, provided he commits for the upcoming years.

With Rodgers on the possible road to receiving such a big payout, there is very little chance for him to go elsewhere, much less be reunited with his best friend. Surely, the fans are eager to see how the regular season face-off between the two will be.
