Furthermore, he has very actively spoken up against the alleged racism in the NFL. In the vein of furthering this cause, the quarterback has gone on to publish a graphic novel that talks about his own high school days. The book touches upon some crucial themes in terms of racism and discrimination.

When he was promoting the book, the ex-San Francisco 49ers QB spoke about the kind of problematic elements the book aims to educate people about. The QB has also mentioned that he made this book for readers about the age of 12 so that they can resonate with the story if they’ve had similar experiences. Recently, he spoke about the kind of narrative the book portrays.

While talking to one of the people who helped with the book, Kaepernick explained the kind of real narrative the book showcases. While in conversation with Eve Ewing, he spoke about the tough realities the book addresses. The quarterback was clear when he spoke about how the book might uncover some deeply uncomfortable themes that need to be touched upon.

He also said, “In order for this to really resonate and hopefully move people and lead them down different paths or make different decisions or handle situations differently. Some of the stories and dynamics that may be like that’s a tough one to tell or may not be the most comfortable.” However, the quarterback reiterated how these uncomfortable scenarios are the ones that need to be touched upon the most.

Kaepernick’s view on maintaining a balance

While talking to Ewing, Kaepernick explained how he will be maintaining a balance in the book. This would seem crucial considering the serious nature of the themes the book touches upon. He spoke about maintaining a balance between the different themes the book deals with.

Kaepernick reiterated the attempt to maintain this balance and said, “I completely agree with the dynamic you mentioned balancing sports relationships and politics within the book. And how do you strike that balance in a way that’s interesting.” The quarterback seemed to recognize the need to maintain that balance to ensure that readers would be able to grasp the story he is trying to communicate.
