Former Super Bowl Winner Tips Dallas Cowboys to Shine in the NFC

There was a lot of hope surrounding Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys ahead of the 2020 NFL campaign. They were stacked on offense, especially in the wide receivers department featuring CeeDee Lamb, Amari Cooper, and Michael Gallup. But an injury to star QB Dak Prescott in Week 5 ruined all their chances at making the NFL Playoffs.
Eventually, the Jerry Jones-owned franchise finished 3rd in the NFC East with a 6-10 record above rivals Philadelphia Eagles. They did okay on offense but it was their inconsistency at defense that cost them a spot in the postseason.

But a strong offseason in 2021 followed by some impressive defensive additions in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cowboys are being tipped for a strong season under coach McCarthy this year.

Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver and Super Bowl winner, Greg Jennings, was the latest to feature on Speak For Yourself hosted by Marcellus Wiley and Emmanuel Acho. He spoke about the Dallas Cowboys and tipped them to mount a challenge in the NFC.

“When you look at the Dallas Cowboys, there are a couple of things that we knew that they were. Offensively, we knew that they could score with anybody and outscore anybody. Defensively, we knew what they were.
“They were going to give up a tonne of points. So what do you do, not even getting into the personnel? First, you address it right away by bringing in a new defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn…he has experience at building a successful defense and getting it to perform at a high level,” Jennings said on the show.

The 2006 NFL Draft 2nd round pick-turned analyst also added that the Cowboys will be stronger after their additions this summer.
“This can be a definite contending team in the NFC, it’s gonna be a challenge, they’re gonna have to match. They got a lot of new pieces, and now a lot of new faces.
“But I believe this scheme that they’re going to all be playing fits their personnel a lot better than what we saw on the field and on display last season,” Jennings concluded.
