Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh recently visited the city of Minneapolis for a job interview with the Minnesota Vikings. Harbaugh surely thought that it was a great time to return to the NFL to give another shot at the Super Bowl, especially after conquering the Big Ten with his alma mater.

Rumors suggested that, he would get the head coach job and that he was very much inclined to accept it. However, as per the reports, the offer never came. So the coach decided to return to Michigan rather than continuing with any interviews. The Michigan Man in his conversation with the Detroit Free Press reporter Mitch Albom revealed why he returned to Ann Arbor.

“In a nutshell, I love Michigan,” he explained, Thursday evening. “I love every player. I love every family.” Following which Albom asked Harbaugh, as to why had he flown to Minneapolis for the interview if so.

“There was a tugging at me that I was once that close to a Super Bowl and I didn’t get it,” Jim stated. “Some NFL jobs came open. I was contacted by the (Minnesota) Vikings. For better or for worse, it was something I wanted to explore. I went in thinking, ‘I’m gonna have 100 percent conviction on this, and if they (Minnesota) have 100 percent conviction on this, then it’s something I’m gonna do.'”

The coach then revealed his intentions to spurn the NFL opportunities and just continue being a Michigan coach “as long as it wants him,” as per sources. Harbaugh has had a great campaign with the Wolverines. He has led his alma mater to their first Big Ten Championship since 2003 and helped them make their first-ever playoff appearance.

However, his campaign with the San Francisco 49ers can not be overlooked. During those four seasons, Harbaugh went 44-19-1 with three consecutive NFC Championship Games (2011-2013), including a Super Bowl appearance in 2012. However, it seems now the 58-year-old has made up his mind to never leave Michigan again.

“Sure, the Super Bowl is the greatest prize in our sport,” he said. “But winning a national championship. That’s pretty darn great. Let’s do that.”Of course, he will now be questioned for his loyalty to the organization, but he still is the perfect answer for Michigan.
