Washington Commanders’ owner Dan Snyder is making headlines yet again. But this time, it seems the news is bringing Commanders’ fans much-needed respite and relief. Reportedly, Snyder has hired the Bank of America to explore ‘potential transactions’ with regard to the franchise. Although, it is yet unclear as to the motives, and the extent of this move.

Dan Snyder is currently under investigation by both the NFL and the House Oversight Committee for sexual harassment and financial mismanagement. And hours after announcing his intention to sell, the US Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Virginia opens a criminal investigation for financial improprieties. This comes after the House Oversight Committee claimed it has proof of the Commanders lying about ticket revenue, and not returning security deposits to fans.

Snyder has been in this storm for quite a while. He is probably the most hated person in the NFL community right now. The other owners are not very keen on him. Most, if not all, of the Commanders’ fans don’t support him either. Talks of having him voted out as an owner have already started making the circles. But Snyder’s threats to expose the ‘dirt’ he has on the other owners.

Forbes values the Commanders at around $5.6 Billion, which is a lot of cash for Snyder. But as a source tells ESPN, owning an NFL team is his “identity”, meaning he most likely won’t give his team up without a proper fight.

Fans are jubilant at the news of Dan Snyder possibly selling the Commanders

Twitter went berserk as news of Snyder hiring BoA broke out. Most of the fans are happy about the thought of a fresh face to lead their team away from its despair-riddled years. But there are a few skeptical ones too, who think Snyder has some trick up his sleeve and does not intend to let go of the team so easily. Some fans of rival teams desperately want him to stay and continue sabotaging the Commanders. Even Elon Musk makes a cameo in one of the Tweets, poking fun at his recent trend of monetizing every single thing in existence.

The Commanders are 3-4, and last in the NFC East. While the rest of the division has performed over and above expectations, Washington has sadly fallen short. Their problems will once again come to the forefront when they face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The Vikings are 6-1, and fresh off a victory against the Arizona Cardinals. Although the money will be on the Vikes, the Commanders would want to put up a good show.
