Fans watching the Week 4 Bengals-Dolphins game saw Tua Tagovailoa being stretchered off the game. The QB1 suffered one of the most gruesome-looking injuries of the season. The NFL Universe is criticizing how the franchise took care of the situation. However, a remark by Mike McDaniel is getting some attention from a neuroscientist. He blasted the head coach for some of his words upon the unfortunate circumstance.

During the post-game media scrum, Mike McDaniel came to address the press. He talked about Tua Tagovailoa and gave an update. The team kept him under evaluation and put him in concussion protocol. They also sent the QB to the hospital for some checks. But Neuroscientist Chris Nowinski had issues with one of McDaniel’s lines that Tagovailoa had nothing more grievous than a concussion.

Chris Nowinski, Ph.D., tweeted, Mike McDaniel said it’s good Tua ‘doesn’t have anything more serious than a [concussion].’ I don’t think this guy gets it. A concussion is a traumatic brain injury & posturing suggests brain stem injury. It’s pretty high on the list of serious medical consequences of football.

Neuroscientist Nowinski focused on the last lines of McDaniel in the video above. However, if the readers dive into the press conference video in YouTube, the head coach showcased a lot of concern over the quarterback.

Tua Tagovailoa faced a brutal hit to the head during the Bills game in Week 3. Just five days after, he took another blow at the hands of the Bengals’ defense. He struggled to stand and was taken off the game with a back and head injury.
