The Oscars are the most extravagant night of the year for the film industry. People look forward to celebrating their favorite movies and actors from the past year. You never know what might happen during the ceremony. But the incident that happened last night left everyone, including the Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes shook. 

During the award show, Will Smith smacked comedian Chris Rock live on stage. Fans, and Rock himself, couldn’t process what just happened. Everybody was left in awe. This will go down as one of the most bizarre moments in the history of the Oscars. 

Why did Will Smith slap Chris Rock?

The Oscars were going as usual. The red carpet happened. All the celebrities were on top of their game. Everyone was looking beautiful. It was all glitz and glamour. The fans were excited about the ceremony. The comedian Chris Rock was on stage to present the award for the best documentary. But being a comedian, Rock could not help but crack a joke. It seems like he chose the wrong person to mess with last night.

The comedian cracked a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Jada had her head shaved because she has been struggling with alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that leads to hair loss. So while presenting the award, Rock said, “Jada, I love you, ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it.” He even added, “That was a nice one.” The joke did not go well with the crowd.

Will Smith was furious, and just as Rock cracked the Joke, he marched down the aisle and slapped the comedian. Cameras caught Smith saying, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth!” The entire world and the internet were shocked by what just happened. 

Patrick Mahomes reacts to the incident

It seems like the Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was watching the Oscars. When Will Smith slapped Chris Rock, Mahomes couldn’t believe it. The athlete tweeted, “Bro……..” The amount of dots after the word “Bro.” Was everyone’s exact reaction. 

Mahomes was still in disbelief. He replied to his own tweet saying, “Ain’t no way….” The Oscars are wild and sometimes controversial, but nobody expected to see Smith throw hands. Simply, you do not mess with his wife. Maybe Rock was not aware of Jada’s condition, but he should have been more careful with his words. He learned it the hard way.
