NFL Veteran Feels This Rookie QB Is the Closest Thing to Aaron Rodgers

With veterans like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady entering the twilight years of their careers, the NFL is in search of its next crop of franchise QBs. And the 2021 NFL Draft Class delivered just that.
In a heavily stacked quarterback class, as many as five quarterbacks were drafted in the first round of the draft. And many of them have already started drawing comparisons to established superstars like Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady.
But one fellow NFL veteran feels going by what he’s seen so far, the NFL might have gotten its hand on the closest thing to being the next Aaron Rodgers.

Zach Wilson draws similarities to Aaron Rodgers
35-year-old NFL journeyman Josh Johnson was recently signed by the New York Jets as a free agent. Having had shared a locker room with elite QB talents such as Eli Manning and Andrew Luck in the past, the veteran was asked about his first thoughts regarding rookie QB Zach Wilson.
The BYU QB was drafted second overall by the Jets franchise and is viewed by many as the man to finally lead the Jets out of their slump. And Johnson believes Wilson definitely has the tools to turn that dream into reality.

“Oh, he’s special, man,” Johnson said while talking to ESPN. “He can make some throws that I only see a few quarterbacks making. He reminds me a lot of Aaron Rodgers with some of the throws he makes.

The way he can get his body in position and make unique throws in the pocket. He has really special arm talent. Once this season gets going, I think the whole country is going to see it. He has what it takes to be successful,” he added.
Gushing with praise for the young QB, Johnson further talked about the leadership traits the young QB has shown so far in training camp.

“I’ve been around so many different quarterbacks and what I appreciate is his ability to want to be great and own everything,” Johnson said. “He always wants to take the reins. He’s hard on himself, which I respect. His work ethic and his appreciation for the game are what’s going to make him a great player.”
The Jets haven’t made a trip to the Super Bowl ever since Joe Namath carried them all the way back in 1969. 50 years on, even Broadway Joe will hope for Wilson to be the next QB in Jets history to guide the side to a Super Bowl ring.
