It’s been a tough season for Drew Brees-led New Orleans Saints. The Saints have made their way to the NFC South title for the fourth consecutive year. They are currently on an 11-4 record heading into Week 17 and were the first team to confirm the spot in this year’s NFL playoffs along with Kansas City Chiefs. They have the chance to end their season on high by beating the Carolina Panthers this weekend.

As per reports from NFL insider Adams Schefter, the Saints are gearing up for life after Drew Brees in the coming months. Here’s what Schefter said in a recent interview with respect to the future of the Super Bowl winner.
“As for Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, everybody expects, that after the season, Drew Brees will retire. They thought that last year and he surprised them in March by deciding to come back. This time, he’s got a signed contract with NBC, this time, he’s another year older.”

“This time, he’s played through the 11 fractured ribs and a punctured lung. A difficult physical season and I think most people still believe that this will be the final season for Drew Brees in New Orleans and in the NFL before he turns to the broadcasting,” Schefter said via 247 Sports.

As a starter this season, Brees is on an 8-3 record heading into the final week of the regular season. He has completed 253 of 358 passes (70.7%) for 2,741 yards and 21 touchdowns to 6 interceptions in 11 games. But with age not on his side anymore, it remains to be seen how long he chooses to continue in the NFL. Will he bow out on a high like Peyton Manning or will he search for a new challenge like good friend Tom Brady? Watch this space for more.
