Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz looks to ‘push through’ difficult spell

The decision to start rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts ahead of Carson Wentz didn’t come as a surprise to many. After enduring a nightmarish season in the pocket, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson finally took the call to drop the franchise’s starting QB in favour of the rookie drafted in from the Oklahoma Sooners.

Wentz though remains optimistic. Taking to Twitter to reply to a fan, Wentz ensured that he would keep pushing through to cement his role as a franchise QB.

“God’s got a plan for me and I’ll keep pushing through this like I always do— trusting HIM and giving it everything I got!” Wentz tweeted.

Wentz’s struggles with finding the end zone

Wentz, who was once touted by many as a generational talent, currently leads the league with the most interceptions thrown this season (15). To put that number into perspective, Wentz threw 14 interceptions in his rookie season. With a completion percentage of less than 60%, it was only a matter of time before Pederson took the call to bench Wentz

Teammates rally behind Carson Wentz

Eagles’ players were quick to come in Wentz’s support. Several of them including the likes of veterans such as Fletcher Cox and Jason Kelce were quick to rally behind the faltering star QB.

Defensive tackle Cox made his opinion clear by taking to a Twitter poll by SportsRadio 94 WIP, which asked users who should be the starting QB for the Eagles between Hurts and Wentz. Cox ‘liked’ the post which meant casting a vote for Wentz.
