As the NFL teams approach off-season training activities, players will have to begrudgingly snap out of the vacation mode they’ve currently been on. However, some of the league’s superstars like Patrick Mahomes and Derrick Henry have already started their training ahead of the pack. And King Henry just dropped a video of his jaw-dropping workout. A video you wouldn’t think was shot two months after the last season ended.

There is a reason why King Henry is one of the most feared running backs in the league. Derrick even left former NFL defensive end and big man, Marcellus Wiley, wide-mouthed. “Preparation is separation,” Wiley aptly said before playing the video.

The video starts off with the Tennessee Titans superstar back doing squats with over seven weight rings hanging on both sides. Marcellus couldn’t even figure out how much the exact weight was but guessed that it was over a thousand pounds. What made this workout the Derrick Henry special is that the 29-year-old didn’t even wear the appropriate gym shoes, working out in his ankle-length socks.

After that, the video cuts to Henry doing push-ups. However, this was no ordinary push-up. This was a reverse bench press push-up. Another Derrick Henry special where he had heavy chains hanging from his neck, while his entire body balanced between a balance ball for his toes and a tightrope band for his hand.

Next came the band pull-ups and weight thrusts. And Henry followed it up with the regular bench press along with the chains. That wasn’t it as the RB took to the lunges next, working both sides of his abs and torso.

The King Henry stiff-arm mystery was finally solved

For the last few years, fans have never stopped wondering how Derrick Henry has the unusual ability to stiff-arm his opponents while running with the ball at full speed. And he has done it countless times on the field. Well, the secret lies in months of training off the field.

The Titan blew former Buffalo Bills and Chargers DE Marcellus Wiley’s mind when he practiced his stiff arms on two of his training partners, all while balancing on a tiny balance ball. “That’s proper practice. To do exactly what you’re gonna do in game situations for great stability,” Wiley, who himself benched around 495 lbs and squatted 795 lbs in his playing years, added.

The running back capped it with some explosive slam ball movements. All in all, it was a few minutes of ‘watch-it-to-believe-it’ workout content. Last month, news of the Titans shopping Derrick Henry shocked fan bases across the league. And some of that intensity was palpable in the video.
