GM Joe Douglas opted to part ways with HC Adam Gase this year. He brought in former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to help steady the ship in New York.
He also decided to trade Sam Darnold to Carolina Panthers in exchange for the 2021 NFL Draft 6th-round pick in addition to the 2nd and 4th-round selections in the 2022 draft.
But with Teddy Bridgewater already on the Panthers roster, coach Matt Rhule has an important decision on his hands in the build-up to the 2021 NFL season.

Speaking to the media in his first press conference as a Carolina Panthers player, Sam Darnold revealed that he has not yet spoken to teammate Teddy Bridgewater since leaving the Jets.
“I’ve always admired Teddy. Being with him in New York, we became close friends there. We would talk every now and then. I haven’t talked to him since the trade went down, but I’m looking forward to that interaction and I’m looking forward to competing with him,” Darnold said at the below press conference.

In his first 3 years in the NFL, Darnold threw for 8,097 yards with 45 passing TDs against 39 interceptions. He further rushed for 417 yards with 5 rushing TDs to his name.
Almost immediately after Darnold’s trade move, reports indicated that former New Orleans Saints man Teddy Bridgewater was pushing for a move away from the Panthers. Despite signing a 3-year deal last year, Bridgewater was not happy with the arrival of Darnold.
He will look to secure a move elsewhere in order to guarantee him a starting berth when the season starts in September. Teddy threw for 3,733 yards with 15 passing TDs against 11 interceptions in 2020. He could be an interesting option for teams on the hunt for a quarterback this summer.
