Seahawks QB Geno Smith Makes Big Promise on Signing the Contract He Waited 10 Years For

The Seattle Seahawks have renewed their partnership with their marquee quarterback Geno Smith. As per the latest reports, the Seahawks gave Smith a new three-year deal, ensuring that the Pro Bowl selection continues his excellent run for the blue and gray. The deal is set to keep Geno Smith as the presumptive starter with the franchise and the Seattle Seahawks definitely showed their commitment to Smith in doing so.

Without a shadow of doubt, 2022 was Smith’s breakout year. In addition to being a Pro Bowl selection, the man was also the recipient of the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year. His efforts out on the field have been rewarded by the Seahawks, but as Geno Smith claims, the best is yet to come.

According to coach Pete Carroll, Geno Smith is betting on himself to come back even stronger. The contract that he received is also heavily incentive oriented, which means, in addition to personal goals, Smith would have to fulfill the contract requirements as well.

NFL Network reported that Smith has signed a $105 Million contract, however, $30 million of those would be purely incentive-based, leaving the base value at $75 million, with $40 million in guarantees.

Carroll went on to add, “We’re counting on him coming through and doing the things that he was able to do last year, and if he does that, he’s going to get rewarded, We’re going to have a real chance to be at our best. So it is heavily structured that way, and I know he’s gambling a little bit in that sense on himself”.

Smith appears to be determined to come back with a sense of purpose and establish his dominance once again. His sense of self-belief is something that Seahawks share as well, and both parties are heavily betting on Geno Smith to be as good as if not better than last year.
