The Taylor Swift fever has been catching up with the NFL in recent times. From Travis Kelce to Aaron Rodgers, the singer/songwriter boasts a very big fanbase even amongst football players. Back in May, A-Rod was having the time of his life as he attended the Eras Tour concert by Taylor Swift at MetLife Stadium. He also came out as a die-hard Swiftie, talking about his favorite song and album by the pop singer. Even retired QB Peyton Manning recently jumped on the Eras Tour bandwagon, after his Omaha Productions revealed a picture of him inspired by Taylor Swift.

And now, the 33-year-old literally shook it off during one of her recent Eras Tour concerts in Seattle. This led to the event shaking the ground so hard that it was caught even by the Ritcher scale. 

Taylor Swift fans literally made the earth move!

The singer has been enjoying tremendous success from her Eras Tour. And her recent Seattle concerts mark the end of the US leg of the tour, with the international line-up to being in August. As Taylor Swift took to Lumen Field on the 22nd and 23rd of July, thousands of devoted Swifties flocked to see their favorite pop icon in action. Both nights of the concert sold out, with 72,171 fans showing up for the first show. This number broke the venue record set by U2 at 70,000 back in 2011. But this is not the only jaw-dropping stat made by Swift in Seattle.

Seismologist Jackie Caplan-Auerbach stated that the two nights of concerts in Seattle generated a 2.3 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale. This occurred when thousands of fans were jumping, dancing, and singing along to the tunes of Taylor Swift at Lumen Field. According to Seismologist Mouse Reusch, the songs responsible for this mini earthquake were ‘Shake It Off’ and ‘Blank Space’, two of Swift’s biggest hits.

But years before this event, a similar experience occurred for Seattle Seahawks fans in the NFL, which went down in history as the ‘Beast Quake’.

Is the ‘Swift Quake’ identical to the ‘Beast Quake’ of 2011?

NFL fans might remember well the time when people witnessed a similar incident at Lumen Field during an NFL game. The Seahawks were playing the New Orleans Saints. And during this NFC Wild Card Playoff Game, former Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch scored the iconic 67-yard touchdown. The fans went so wild with the celebrations after this touchdown that it cause seismic activities. This led to the game celebration known as the ‘Beast Quake’ in the league. And according to Caplan-Auerbach, this and the Taylor Swift incident are identical in nature. While there was only a 0.3 difference between the two on the seismic meter, Swifties took the cake in overall magnitude, as it lasted for hours compared to the brief celebration in 2011.

As Swift’s concert holds another record on the Lumen field, the Seahawks will be looking to create another ‘Beast Quake’ like event in the near future. What do you think?
