With recent developments, Dallas QB1 finds himself in a challenging position. Despite Dak Prescott’s determination to lead the Cowboys to the Super Bowl, he must now navigate the loss of key players and the heightened pressure that comes with it. To add to the pressure, the Cowboys decided to release defensive end Takkarist McKinley on June 9, 2023. In another move that increased the pressure on the team, wide receiver Antonio Callaway was released by the Cowboys after he was arrested in Miami over the weekend, as there was an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license.

Adding to the mix, a media personality shared a story from Sports Illustrated that discussed Prescott and highlighted the high-pressure situation he will face as the Dallas Cowboys quarterback. Colin Cowherd presented his arguments and viewpoints, further intensifying the scrutiny of Prescott.

“Story in Sports Illustrated this morning, they said the pressure is really high for Dak Prescott to get over the hump in his career. Really? I mean, this Cowboys team is going to be much more Dak-dependent.” Colin Cowherd said. “’Zeke’ (Ezekiel Elliott) is gone, Amari Cooper is gone, Dalton Schultz is gone, his great offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is gone, uh, Tyron Smith is almost gone; he gives you about half a season, the great all-time left tackle. This is a very Dak-dependent team.”

Cowherd compares him to Vikings QB Kirk Cousins, another reliable quarterback who can’t seem to beat the elite ones. He says that both Dak and Kirk have high expectations, but they should be adjusted based on their team situations. Cowherd also talks about how happiness is tied to expectations, and how Dak gets more praise and criticism than he deserves because he plays for the Cowboys.

Dak Prescott has only two playoff wins in his career, both in the wild-card round. He has also lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round for the past two seasons. The Cowboys have not reached the NFC championship game since 1995 when they won their last Super Bowl. Prescott wants to end that drought and make history for his team.
