Tom Brady Backed NFT Company Autograph Signs a Partnership Deal With This NBA MVP Candidate

Just a day after signing a multi-year partnership deal with Penske Entertainment and Team Penske, Tom Brady-backed NFT company Autograph is getting another NBA star on board. The news was revealed by Tom Brady himself via Twitter, welcoming the Phoenix Suns guard for a long run with his company.

Devin Armani Booker is an American professional basketball player playing in the National Basketball Association for the Suns. The 25-year-old NBA star is gearing up his business avenues by making significant investments. Tom Brady’s Autograph is now one amongst them in his vastly diverse portfolio.

Tom Brady gets a new partner in Autograph

On April 15th, Brady tweeted about the partnership with Booker. “Let’s go book! Just in time for a playoff run!” Brady seemed pumped while sharing the news with his fans and tagged Booker in the tweet.

Starting with virtually zero financial knowledge, Booker has picked up stakes in seven startups since signing a five-year, $158 million contract extension with the Phoenix Suns in 2018. Last year, the NBA All-star joined video game equipment company Astro Gaming as a brand ambassador. Moreover, he is making around $8 million annually from brand endorsements for big companies like Nike and the video game Call of Duty in the market.

This unquenched thirst to do business alongside his NBA career helped him get a place in Forbes’ 2022, 30 Under 30 list in the sports category. “His desire to be a businessman and learn about business and investments at that young age was something I had not heard before, not seen before,” says Jim Reynolds (Booker’s advisor and business partner) to a news outlet. The shooting guard got selected in the first round of the 2015 NBA draft.

Just two years down the line, he became the youngest player to score over 60 points in a game, finishing with 70 against the Boston Celtics. Also, the youngster played a pioneering role in leading the team to enter the NBA finals in 2021. At the age of 22, he became the youngest player in NBA history with consecutive 50-point games.

This year, he is expected to make $31.7 million in salary as a part of his contract extension. Now, when the two sporting legends come together, it would drastically loft the brand value of Autograph in all aspects.

The company that was founded by Tom Brady in July 2021 attracted interest from various investors across the sports fraternity. On Tuesday, the company signed a hot multi-year deal with Team Penske, the NTT IndyCar Series, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The collaboration will drop its first collection of the brand new partnership on May 29.

Interestingly, the day also marks the 106th running of the Indy 500, which is one of motorsport’s premier racing events. With collaboration with NASCAR’s top tiers, the company envisions laying the groundwork for its future in the web3.

The founder of the crypto exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried also sits on the board of Autograph. Autograph raised $170 million in a Series B round by the Silicon Valley investors. Previously, in July 2021, the company raised $35 million in its Series A round helping the platform to scale and market its possibilities in the digital world. Further updates on the recent deal are yet to come. However, it would be interesting to see how much the company benefits from such heavy investments in the future.
