Tom Brady is 45 years old and treats his body in an appropriate manner. The seven time Super Bowl champion couldn’t have achieved the level of longevity in his playing career without knowing his own limitations. And Brady’s prime shortcoming has always been his lean physicality.

On the most recent episode of the ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast with Jim Gray and Larry Fitzgerald, Tom Brady spoke to Gray about his chosen method of dealing with his relatively smaller on-field size compared to the people rushing him on every play. The 15x Pro Bowler is aware of his own size and also the size of the linebackers and d-linemen on the opposing teams.

“I’d get killed out there. Those guys would kick my a**. I am the weakest guy out on the field,” said the five-time Super Bowl MVP quarterback. “I wouldn’t be physically able to do much to those guys, anyway.” Tom Brady is playing in his 23rd season in the NFL and has endured his fair share of injuries during these two decades of playing a contact sport. However, at 6’4” Brady has his own small-guy technique of dealing with the harsh physicality on the field.

Tom Brady tries to avoid any direct altercation with the defense

Tom Brady is known to have a high tolerance for pain. Brady played through a stress fracture in his foot for over 2 years in 2008 until finally getting surgery in 2011. TB12 played in the 2018 AFC Championship game for the New England Patriots, despite requiring stitches for a lacerated throwing arm injury. Last year, he had surgery for his torn MCL in the off-season. So the veteran QB is no stranger to injuries. However, avoiding a career-ending injury is always the initial priority.

“I think there’s a level of frustration where I’ve definitely tried to slung my leg around you know. Just to give a glancing blow to a defender that got too close to me. Or did something that I thought was a bit unfair. But nothing more than that,” Tom Terrific said.
