“Wants to Help The Team” – Doug Pederson Speaks Positively About Carson Wentz After Jalen Hurts Impresses

Doug Pederson-led Philadelphia Eagles have been miserable throughout 2020. The NFC East big boys are on a 4-9-1 record heading into Week 16. A major reason for their dismal display this season has been veteran quarterback Carson Wentz.
Wentz has featured in 12 games for the Eagles this year, winning just 3. He has thrown for 2,600+ yards with 16 passing TDs against an embarrassing tally of 15 interceptions. His pass completion percentage of 57.4% is one of the worst in the league.
He was displaced as the first-choice starting quarterback by rookie Jalen Hurts in Week 14. The promising youngster has put in some eye-catching displays over the last two weeks against the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals.

Speaking in a pre-game interview earlier this week, coach Pederson spoke about Wentz’s professional demeanour since being demoted to a backup quarterback in Philly.
He said, “You know, it can, if you let it. That’s one thing that Carson has not allowed that to happen and he’s not going to let it happen. He’s been a pro about it, and he’s been very talkative in the meetings, asking the questions just like he had before, and you see him talking to Jalen during the week and during games. It’s something that I really appreciate about Carson is how he’s handled this. He doesn’t want to be a distraction to the team.”

“He wants to help the team win. That’s the bottom line. So, we don’t let these things really creep into our thinking and try to keep them out of the locker room, so it won’t divide your team,” Pederson said via Penn Live.
Hurts is expected to start this weekend’s crucial clash against the Dallas Cowboys as well. Both teams are vying for NFC East bragging rights at the moment.
