On Monday, the Broncos will ask formally for the interview. However, another NFL insider, Tom Pelissero reported that the in-person interview won’t take place before January 17th, as per the NFL rules and regulations. Meanwhile, many fans commented on the news, as they were shocked by Payton’s decision.

One more fan echoed the same sentiment due to the Broncos’ quarterback situation with Russell Wilson.
Broncos doesn't seem like a good gig to take, whether you can make russell wilson play less poorly or not, you'll never get him to play like a 240million dollar quarterback, so your always going to be building a team at a major deficit.

On the other hand, one Twitter user doesn’t understand the singing from the Broncos’ perspective as well.
How are the Broncos going to compensate the Saints when they traded all their top draft picks for Russell Wilson?

Another person expressed the same opinion regarding Broncos’ options for draft picks.

Meanwhile, many fans think it’s not a wise decision for Payton to play Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert twice in a year.
Don't make no sense for Sean Payton. Let's play Mahomes and Herebert twice a year? Okay.

On December 26, the Broncos fired their head coach, Nathaniel Hackett, after losing against the Rams horribly; under Hackett, the Broncos were 4-11 in the season. Apart from Hackett, Russell Wilson has also been pretty poor throughout the season, as the $243 million quarterback is not showing any signs of improvement.
In a recent interview, Payton gave some words of advice to Wilson regarding improving his performance. Rapoport recently reported that the Broncos are willing to meet the Saints’ price, which means the Denver fans could see Payton on the sidelines next season. Moreover, it will be an opportunity for Payton to work with Wilson closely and possibly try to improve his game.
