After Lionel Messi‘s surprising move to the MLS, Tyreek Hill wasted no time in issuing a challenge to the soccer legend. It’s nothing new for the Super Bowl champ, as he has constantly given out similar challenges in the past. Hill’s confidence has always been his key strength, and he has never hesitated to show it. Right after dominating a 60m race at USATF Masters Indoors Championship, Hill’s previous debate with the fastest man alive reignited once more.

The Miami Dolphins wide receiver has always claimed to be the fastest athlete in the league, and he even went as far as to challenge the fastest man alive, Usain Bolt. This debate has been going on for a while now, but there was actually a moment when Hill faced Bolt in a showdown.

Tyreek Hill faced Usain Bolt in a speed contest

The whole drama started when Hill called Usain “washed up” in Shannon Sharpe‘s weekly podcast, “Club Shay Shay”. The Super Bowl champ has been taking a jab or two at the Olympic gold medalist for years now. Although it seems highly likely that we will ever get to see them face each other in a race, the NFL on ESPN’s latest post on Instagram brought back memories from the distant past when they faced each other in a speed skills competition.

This challenge took place almost 4 years ago. Although it was a fast-speed skill competition, it wasn’t held on the track or the turf. However, the completion featured various contests between the two athletes. Before the competition even started, Hill started trash-talking Bolt in front of the camera by claiming that he will beat him in every competition. And, as always, Hill also claimed in the pre-game interview that he would beat Bolt on the tracks if he was given the opportunity.

The Olympic gold medalist faced Cheetah in an old-fashioned ‘Hand slap fight.’ It came in as a tie as none of the players scored a single point. Then came the ‘Slap Jack’ round, which also ended in a tie. In the third completion, they were asked to match Bolt’s 9.5 seconds in a stopwatch, where Hill clinched the victory. After that, the fourth competition was for sending tweets, and the Super Bowl champ came as a winner once more.

In the last round, both of the athletes were pitted against each other to fill a balloon by blowing air straight from the mouth. The Super Bowl champ did not disappoint once more and left Bolt behind by a mile. Therefore, Cheetah was dubbed the winner of the competition by winning 3 out of 5 speed skill competitions.

Four years have passed since then, and the Super Bowl champion still drags Bolt’s name in conversations. Nevertheless, Hill has grown exponentially as an athlete during these times. He is still known as one of the fastest WR in the league as of now, and the Dolphins will surely reek benefit from him in the upcoming season.
