Za’Darius Smith Injury Update a Big Boost for Green Bay Packers

Za’Darius Smith’s back injury early in the training camp last month jeopardized the Green Bay Packers’ plans for their season starter against New Orleans Saints. And his presence in the EverBank Field on the 13 September seemed to be in complete darkness.
Until Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel shared a picture on Twitter, that is. In the tweet, the outside linebacker was seen practicing ahead of week 1. Although Smith was doing individual drills, the fans now have a ray of hope for his supposed return.

Green Bay Packers count on Za’Darius Smith
Smith hasn’t missed a single game in his two seasons with the Packers. However, that streak seems to be in question, and that mystery can only be answered in the coming few days.
“We’ll see if he can get out there and do some individual today. Yeah, we’re hopeful,” Packers head coach LaFleur said Monday.

His return to the training ground is a very big update and fans are counting upon his recovery. Although it is highly doubtful that he will make it in the squad the very week, he has returned to practice. Furthermore, the Packers will need Smith for the entire season, and putting him at risk during the very first week would not be a safe bet to play for them.
Packing up against the Saints
The head coach at the time of injury reported that Smith’s injury was a sign of “concern” and could “potentially” keep him out for the first week. However, the Packers will release their first injury report on Wednesday. The report may provide the required hints for Smith’s possible inclusion during the season opener.

The Saints have one of the best offensive lines in the league and to keep them from scoring, the Packers would surely count on Smith to lead their defensive end if he is available. Above all, his return to the training ground is in itself a great sign of relief.
