The San Francisco 49ers are going through tough times. The team returned home from Cleveland heartbroken after losing their untainted winning streak to the Browns last week with a score of 19-17. To make things worse, key players got injured. QB Christian McCaffrey left the ground briefly in Week 6 because of his oblique injury, returning for a late 6-yard in the late third quarter. However, Elijah Mitchell might have just brought the silver lining that the Niners need.

Along with QB McCaffrey, WR Deebo Samuel did not engage in practice on Thursday, as he was down with a shoulder injury. The Thursday practice nonparticipant list includes tackle Trent Williams (because of his ankle injury) and Dre Greenlaw (a hamstring issue).

RB Elijah Mitchell is back in the game

While the team is getting back on track after the devastating week, good news awaits them. As the 49ers prepare to hit the road again, this time to the US Bank Stadium, the team might be accompanied by their running back Elijah Mitchell. The last game Mitchell played was in Week 3 against the New York Giants. Following this, ahead of Week 4, the RB got a knee injury (Grade 1) during practice. However, in Week 6, Elijah Mitchell returned to practice last Thursday, per an NBCS report. Now, the RB is in full practice and is expected to join the team for their next trip to Minneapolis.

The RB has recorded 48 yards with 18 carries in three games this season. Thus, his presence will benefit the Niners in making a comeback. However, the team will miss out on Aaron Banks as the OG has sustained an ankle injury. Moreover, Isaiah Oliver was put under limited practice on Thursday owing to his knee injury.

Vikings injury updates

On the other hand, Kirk Cousins too will have to put up a tough fight as even though the Niners are coming off a loss, they are still the season’s dominators with a score of 5-1. The absence of the injured players will affect the Vikings just as much as it will the 49ers.

Ezra Cleveland did not practice on Thursday because of his foot injury. Along with him, Akayleb Evans (oblique), Patrick Jones II (shoulder), and Jalen Nailor (hamstring) were on limited practice on Thursday, as their status remains questionable for the game against the Niners. It is safe to say that each team will have to put their best foot forward, as on one hand there are the season-dominating 49ers and on the other, the underdog Vikings.
