Jamal Adams was in a ‘dark place’ post-injury

The Seahawks’ safety talked to ESPN on Friday about the time he tore his left quadricep in a retrospective way. The 27-year-old recalled the time being horrifying, where he cried his eyes out. He even considered retirement as an option as a result. “It was tough, “I thought about retiring. I thought about a lot of things. Is this going to be it for me? I was in a dark place. Not on anything suicidal, but definitely in a lot of dark times as far as getting away from the game of football, getting away from people,” said Adams to the reporters. Now, as Adams is set to make a debut, he also offered an explanation of how he got out of the ‘dark zone’.

Talking about the coming out of it process, Adams said, “But I knew eventually after I got that MRI, I told myself I’m going to be back. I didn’t know when or how, but I was going to figure it out.” The quadricep tear was one of the three injuries Adams had over the last three seasons. Adams suffered two major torn shoulder labrums along with other minor injuries in the two seasons preceding the 2022 season. And all these injuries had taken a huge toll on his mental well-being. Now, Adams is awaiting his debut.
