The fourth Sunday of October is a special celebrated day in the NFL. As the celebrations for that day near, Niners tight end George Kittle looked back upon a legendary moment. The true fanatics know it. It all started back in 2018 when former 49ers tight end Garrett Celek caught a touchdown pass of 11 yards from Jimmy Garoppolo. The special thing about it was that Celek dragged two defenders with him to make a score. The moment itched itself onto the memories of fans and in the history of the NFL.

The Niners flocked the sideline to congratulate Celek and the QB on their touchdown. The moment marked the birth of the ‘National Tight Ends Day’, which originally started with the 49ers, but soon enough spread across the whole league like wildfire. This season’s Niners tight end George Kittle recently shared how it unfolded.

George Kittle: It’s National Tight Ends Day

Revisiting the iconic moment, TE Kittle spoke to the NFL. “I say some weird stuff out there sometimes. Jimmy G comes out like ‘Oh man all the tight ends are out here. What is it, like National Tight Ends Day?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s National Tight Ends Day Jimmy. It’s a holiday.'” recollected Kittle. He further added, “Tight ends all over the league are scoring touchdowns.’ That’s how it came to be. We just kind of rolled with it.”

Moreover, the Niners TE opened up about how lively the 49ers locker room stays, thanks to the playfulness of the teammates. So much so that all Sundays, and many Mondays, Thursdays, and even some Fridays and Saturdays are National Tight Enda Day for them, as per Kittle. Now the teams know the secret to the Niners’ solid offense and defense, it lies in their players’ friskiness, off-field of course. On-field, the players are highly motivated.

Oftentimes, the QBs are credited as the star players of any team, whereas most of the players are not credited as much.
