All this is from his 8-year contract extension, which amounts to a $108 million extension with the Vegas Golden Knights, which begins in the 2026-27 season with an AAV of $13.5 million. 

He had a previous contract with the Buffalo Sabres at the start of his career in 2015. It was a three-year deal worth $11.325 million (including potential performance bonuses), signed after being drafted 2nd overall. Then came a 2017 extension with an $80 million eight-year contract with a $10 million AAV.

Finally, he hit the bigger bucks by signing a  $108 million eight-year deal in October 2025 with the Vegas Golden Knights.

During his years with the Buffalo Sabres in 2021, he signed an 8-year extension worth an average of $10 million a year. The contract extension was worth an average of $10 million a year. This also expired in the 2025-2026 season.
