Nico Rosberg has come under heavy criticism following the previous race after he blamed his team mate for going to slow and thus trying to compromise his race. Every one wondered why Nico didn’t overtake, if Hamilton was going slow, with many attacking his skills and racing abilities.

Rosberg must be feeling the heat, as his team mate has managed a 17  point lead over him already in the championship standings. Last year in Bahrain, the Mercedes duo had a race long battle for lead which ultimately Hamilton won. The pressure is growing on Rosberg to hit back soon and on the Thursday ahead of the grand prix he revealed he had been studying video of last year’s thrilling wheel-to-wheel battle with Hamilton, in order to avoid a repeat.

Asked if he could beat Hamilton this weekend, Rosberg said: “Do I think so? Yes. I also thought that the last two races and it didn’t go my way and I’m here to try to make it happen. I’ve just been looking at the videos here again because I need to improve when we were in battles and last year here there were things I could have done better to win that race and I was just looking at that again.

“It was very important [to beat Hamilton] already in Malaysia, so that doesn’t change. Every race is important and he’s 17 points ahead and that’s the facts, so I need to get points back as soon as possible. That’s clear and it’s not more important here or whatever. Of course last year he had a run of four wins at the beginning of the season and right after that I had my best part of the year for quite a long time, so there’s also that reference from last year.
