USA Announces Men’s Springboard and Platform Diving Teams for Tokyo Olympics 2020

Diving is a sport that has constantly evolved at the Olympic Games. Over the years, the United States has established itself as the most decorated nation in Olympic diving, but China is posing a challenge at a swift pace. Diving will be an exciting sport at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and here are the male divers who will represent the USA this year. 

Diving has been a part of the Olympics ever since 1904. From plunge-diving to now, the sport has seen vast changes. Right now, there are eight events as part of diving, four each for men and women. 

More than 100 athletes from different countries will battle it out for medal positions in the following events: 3m springboard, synchronized 3m springboard, 10m platform, and synchronized 10m platform.

As for the schedule, the synchronized events will not conduct any heats and will jump directly to the finals. On the other hand, the 3m springboard and 10m platform will have preliminary rounds, a semi-final, and a final

Americans divers who are going to Tokyo Olympics 2020

The United States held its Olympic diving trials from June 6-13 and filled out a total of 11 out of 12 possible spots on the Olympic diving team. The men’s synchronized platform is the only event the USA will miss at the Olympics this year.

USA’s men’s diving team has a mix of high talent with a tinge of inexperience. While Andrew Capobianco might be an Olympic rookie, he is expected to aim for the top of the podium. His partner is the experienced Michael Hixon who won the silver medal in this event in 2016.

Capobianco will also feature in the individual springboard event alongside Tyler Downs who will just turn 18 during the commencement of the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Furthermore, five-time national champion Brandon Loschiavo and the highly talented 22-year-old Jordan Windle will gun for glory in the 10m platform event.
