39-year-old has been on the field for more than a decade now. Throughout her career, she has stunned the world with her breathtaking goals. After 16 years of her professional career, Carli wants to start a family.
People tried to compare Carli to Tom Brady. NFL star Tom Brady is playing even at the age of 43. In conversation with Goal, Lloyd addressed the comparison made, and why it’s different for her and Tom. Carli said, “Well, Tom Brady doesn’t have to have kids, that’s the one thing for starters! My husband, Brian, and I are eventually going to start a family so the clock’s kind of ticking on that.

USWNT star is ready to shift the gears in her life
Back in 2016, Carli married her high school sweetheart, Brian Hollins. However, because of her professional career, she could not spend much time with her family.

Being an athlete is exciting, but also challenging. They get little time for their families amidst the training and the travel and thus their families must also make sacrifices. Carli is now ready to move on to the next chapter of her life.
Carli opened up about the challenges of being a professional athlete. “It gets to be a little tiring, you know? Being away from home, the travel and, to be quite honest, having to stay at the top and prove people wrong. It is exhausting. It takes endless work, day in and day out and I’m just ready to kind of shift gears and start this next chapter and live my life and do a lot of things that I’ve put on hold for so many years.”

Team USA would feel the absence of their strongest player on the field after Carli’s retirement. But, after a storied career at the top of the game, may Carli enjoy her retirement.
