VIDEO: Caeleb Dressel Breaks Down in Tears After Winning the Gold Medal in Emotional Fashion at the Tokyo Olympics 2020

After all the hype surrounding him, Caeleb Dressel has brought home the gold. He swam an incredible race in the 100-meter freestyle and set the race on fire with an Olympic record. The heir to Michael Phelps’ throne, Dressel, was the World Champion heading to the event.

Dressel won his second gold medal at this year’s Tokyo Olympics 2020. The US swimmer produced a fantastic display of swimming in the 100-meter event despite having brilliant competitors beside him.

Dressel’s dominance was seen throughout the race and there was never any doubt about the outcome. In an emotional victory, Dressel teared up after his post-swim interview when he talked to his family.

The 24-year-old swimmer swam an incredible race. Even though there were tough competitors like Kyle Chalmers and Kliment Kolesnikov, Dressel led for most of the race and took home the medal.

But it was his emotions after the swim that showed the light side of him. Dressel’s wife Meghan and his family were present in the video call and it sure was a memorable moment. Being labeled as the heir to Phelps’ throne is not easy, but Dressel succeeded in the first step.

He finished with a time of 47.02- a new Olympic record. Kyle Chalmers from Australia came second by finishing with a time of 47.08. Likewise, Kolesnikov claimed the bronze medal by setting a time of 47.44.

Dressel looks to win more

After his success in the 100-meter freestyle, he already has two gold medals in his bag. There were talks about winning seven gold medals and equaling Mark Spitz’s record from Munich in 1972. There are two more individual events in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter butterfly. Even though Milak is a fly expert, Dressel’s enormous frame might give him the advantage. He is just 5 gold medals away from making history.

The gold medal winner’s workouts and diet have been praised for being unique. After swimming with Phelps in Rio, Dressel had taken his career to another level. He won seven gold medals in the 2017 World Championships, proving his dominance and stepping up to become the best swimmer in the world. Moreover, he won eight medals in the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju and cemented his legacy amongst the greats.

The Tokyo Olympics 2020 is the stage for Dressel to shine and boy oh boy he is loving it.
