Katherine “Kate” Douglass was born on November 17, 2001. Kate Douglass was born to Allison and William Douglass, who have been instrumental in supporting her swimming career. She was born in 2001 in Pelham, New York. She also has one brother, Will, and a sister, Abby.

She is an elite American swimmer known for an Olympic bronze in the 200m IM (Tokyo 2021), NCAA championships, and world records.  She is also a member of the University of Virginia (UVA Cavaliers) swim team.

Kate is renowned for her versatility in swimming strokes and her dominance in sprint and mid-distance events. During the 2024 Paris Olympics, she won two gold medals and two silver medals. While competing at the University of Virginia, Douglass secured 15 NCAA individual and relay titles and played a vital role in her team winning championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Throughout her collegiate career, she was named an All-American 28 times.
