2022 was not a good year for a certain 24-year-old track and field star. Disqualified from the SEC indoor championships for accidentally pushing a hurdle with her hand and disqualified again at the NCAA indoor finals for a false start, the future looked bleak for Alia Armstrong. However, in a testament to her grit, she did not lose hope and sprinted back into action, winning the 100-meter hurdles NCAA outdoor semifinals with a personal best time of 12:55 before easily sweeping a win at the final with a time of 12:57. But now she has done it again, beating her personal best!
Track and Field Gazette announced the happy news on X writing, “12.49s!! Alia Armstrong wins the women’s 100 m H final at the Star Athletics Sprint Series, clocking a time of 12.49s (0.7)! Her best since 2023. Christina Clemons was 2nd in 12.54s, while Tonea Marshall ran 12.58s for 3rd place.”

Fans praise Alia Armstrong for her massive comeback score
Fans who followed her career flocked to the comments to cheer her on. One fan said, talking about her unique touch of Rhinestones on her athletic wear: “Rhinestone Queen is gradually racking in those wins and consistency!” She is known as “The Rhinestone Queen” among the fans and she gave her reason for blinging up her costumes back in 8th December 2024 while speaking to Made for the W. She said, “I didn’t want to look like everybody else. It was One day at NCAA indoor. I believe I put rhinestones on my hair. On my slicked back. So the next week at Texas relays, I ran like the fastest all time. The commentator called me over, and he was like, well, if it is in the Rhinestone Queen.” This is how she got her unique moniker.
One fan said, “She keeps getting better in each race. I’m so happy for her and hope she’s running injury-free now.” Back in 2023, after missing most of the indoor season due to injury, Armstrong came back in during the outdoor season. She was crowned the SEC Champion over the 100m hurdles with an LSU record time of 12.40 seconds; her new PR and LSU 100m hurdle record ranked 4th all time in collegiate history. Another netizen chimed in, “So glad to see her back!” In July 2022, she revealed the relief she felt after redeeming herself. As per Track and Field News, she said, “I feel like I can just breathe. I feel like God just had me wait for this moment right here, so I am extremely grateful.”
One fan cheered for her new record and said, “Finally, she’s back!!” Another chimed in, “Progress!!” while one follower quipped, “She’s making her way downnnn.”

Great job!” In an interview with WAFB, back in 2022 Armstrong had admitted her belief in her faith and the impact her mom had on her. “Growing up, my mom always taught me to know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and my talent will never go unnoticed,” Armstrong said. “So every time I step on the line, I remember everything that my mother told me growing up.
