The Diamond League for 2025 is upon us, and the Brazilian 400m star already knows the ropes of the competition. He won the Diamond League title in the 400m hurdles twice, in 2022 and 2024. The 25-year-old is also familiar with the limelight that comes from winning bronze medals at the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics and a World Championship title in 2022. But enough about the accolades of the sprinter, who became $200,000 richer after winning two Grand Slam Track events in Kingston and Miami in 2025. So many achievements at such a young age, but does that make him a favorite?
As he clears hindrances to pave the way for future stars, while chasing to buy a Lamborghini with his prize, let’s see what he said about this. The men’s 300 m hurdles will be the center stage at the Bislett Games, also named Oslo Diamond League, on June 12. The three quickest athletes in the 400m hurdles record, Rai Benjamin, Karsten Warholm, and Alison dos Santos, will face off in this intense matchup over shorter barriers. Before they could sprint at their fastest pace, the athletes sat down for a chat with living legend Kevin Young.
The 1992 Olympic gold medalist asked him if dos Santos would be the favorite, since he had won several events now. The two-time Olympic medalist gave a humble reply stating, “I don’t think so. I would say in the stage that we are in right now, you can’t just have your favorite, you know? You’re gonna have all of us running tomorrow to prove who is the fastest in the 300m, and I am excited that it’s a different event. Gonna be like official, so you know, we just come on here and run with those guys, and like I am really, really proud to be a part of this just. I am excited.”
