“On My Shoulders”: Serena Williams Reveals the Possibility of Winning 24th Grand Slam Title at the Australian Open 2021

Twenty-three time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams is one of the greatest players on the women’s Tour. The manner in which she’s continued gaining success over all these years makes her extraordinary. Serena’s journey transformed from a teenager to a parent during her illustrious career.
The American superstar is currently on 23 Grand Slam titles. She won her last Major at 2017 Australian Open and is just one shy away from equaling Australian legend Margaret Court’s record. Williams is well aware of the possibility of achieving that feat in the current season’s first Grand Slam, the Australian Open 2021.
Serena Williams: “It’s a Good Burden”

Recently, during a press conference, the 39-year-old reflected on the chance she has to win the upcoming Grand Slam event. She stated, “It’s definitely on my shoulders and on my mind. It’s good to be on my mind. It’s a good burden I should say on my shoulders. I’m used to it and it’s more relaxing.”
It’s been four years since Serena last won a Grand Slam title. When she won her previous Major, she was in the initial stages of pregnancy. The birth of the daughter and the whole COVID-19 pandemic situation would’ve taken a toll on her mindset. At the moment, the American looks positive and eager to win a Grand Slam title.

In the past week, Serena was seen at the exhibition event in Adelaide ‘A Day at the Drive’. After that, she took part in the WTA 500 Melbourne 2021 event. During which, she pulled out of the event due to a shoulder injury. As the Australian Open begins on Monday, she needed the time to recover and therefore she decided to skip, in order to focus on her 24th Grand Slam title.
