The inaugural ONE Championship Submission Grappling world title will be on the line on September 30 at ONE on Prime Video 2. BJJ aces Mikey Musumeci and Cleber Sousa will contest to register their names in the history book as the first world champion in ‘gentle art’ at The Home of Martial Arts. The 26-year-old American recently sat down with lifelong martial artist & world’s number one podcaster Joe Rogan and gave a glimpse inside his training routines.

On the JRE MMA Show #127 with Mikey Musumeci, the BJJ & Taekwondo black belt Rogan dived into Musumeci’s grappling journey.

Joe Rogan highlighted Mikey Musumeci’s insane training routine

The veteran MMA analyst, despite being north of 50, is known for his incredible shape. Besides, he has had conversations with some of the all-time greatest martial artists and has come across some insane training schedules. Yet the 26-year-old’s training duration had Joe Rogan curious.

In their two-hour-long conversation, Rogan took time to address Musumeci’s schedule of work. The Spotify podcast host wondered, “You are known for being a guy who trains a ridiculous amount of hours a day. Has that always been the case with you?”

The submission specialist submitted after college he had a lot of time for his training.

“So. I’m just studying jiujitsu, [for] so many hours and drilling.”

The 55-year-old said, “I heard you drill sometimes 12 hours a day.”

Musumeci responded, “Yes, sometimes I’ll end up drilling like all day. You know, if I’m studying a move or a position and I want the answer for it.”

“Like sometimes it takes a long time. You know, and the puzzle of it is what makes me so interested in jiujitsu.”

Mikey Musumeci also had some interesting revelations for the JRE host about his diet. Apart from these, Musumeci revealed he had an upcoming world title bout, which is now only days away.

ONE on Prime Video 2 is special for Mikey Musumeci

The grappler signed to ONE with an already established grappling background. Although, when he came to The Home of Martial Arts, there were no world championship titles in the promotion.

Nevertheless, it changes at ONE on Prime Video 1; The ever-expanding promotion will host the inaugural ONE submission grappling contest at ONE on Prime Video 2 on September 30. And Musumeci would like to mark his name in history books as the first athlete to hold the prestigious ONE submission grappling title.
