Tye Ruotolo claimed ONE Championship gold in his latest promotional outing, and he’s made it clear that he’s willing to put it on the line against anyone, including his twin brother. The American BJJ prodigy became the inaugural ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion by defeating Magomed Abdulkadirov in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 16 on Friday, November 3, inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and he wants to stay active as king.

Tye and his brother, Kade, who reigns supreme as ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Champion, say that they have pushed each other to the limit during training sessions since they were three years old, which has helped them hone their skills to world-class levels.

“My brother and I, we’re always open to fighting each other because we do it every day, you know? So it’s nothing out of the normal,” Tye told ONE in a post-event interview. But now that they each sit atop their respective divisions in the world’s largest martial arts organization, the possibility of them facing each other on ONE’s global stage has never been more likely. 

They have dominated every competitor that has stood in their way in the promotion and proved they are a cut above the rest, leaving little other option but to take each other on.

The twins have squared off a number of times before, so they know each other’s game better than anyone on the planet. And, when discussing the hypothetical match, Tye explained that, although he has more wins over his brother than he has against him, he’d never take him lightly.

“I have three wins over my brother, which is funny because most of the time he was beating me, you know, so I caught him in the end, pretty much every time,” the 20-year-old said. “And I think, in my life, there’s no one that I’d rather fight in a competition. And my brother, he’s the toughest guy in the world.”
