Jonathan “The General” Haggerty will start a new chapter of his career at ONE on Prime Video 4: Abbasov vs. Lee.

On Friday, November 18, the British striking star moves up a division to fight Russian dynamo Vladimir Kuzmin at bantamweight inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

After competing six times in the flyweight ranks, which included a stint as the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion, Haggerty decided that it was time to put his skills to the test in the 145lbs division. And he’s confident he has prepared enough to score a debut a win.

“I know stepping up a division, It’s going to be harder to put them away. But I’ve got a saying: In the flyweight division, I was struggling to keep them on the canvas. But now that I’m in the bantamweight division and I’m bigger, they’re going to stay down, and they’re not going to get back up,” the Orpington native said.

Haggerty’s theory, though still untested, could be true. After all, nobody knows him better than he knows himself.

Haggerty trusts his counterstrikes and Muay Thai

The Fight Club Archangel Michael representative has dished out two striking clinics in two appearances in ONE, against Scotsman Chris Shaw and former Lumpinee Muay Thai World Champion Muangthai PK.Saenchai, but he’s also waiting to pick up his first highlight-reel victory in the Circle.

“The General” feels that Kuzmin’s ruthless style could be his downfall when they meet, however, which will give him a chance to kickstart the new stage of his career with a win.

“You know, it is a tricky opponent for my first bantamweight fight, but as I said, I’m always ready. I will be ready. But I’m expecting him to come out and put the pressure on me with his hands,” Haggerty said.

“He can try outmuscling me, but I feel like the counterstrikes, and my Muay Thai experience will kick in.”
