2007 F1 world champion, Kimi Raikkonen has said that Formula 1 would be better off as whole without all the “bull****” that comes with it.

Raikkonen is in the twilight stages of his career and has just a couple of races left as a Ferrari driver before he goes back to where it all began with Sauber.

‘The Iceman’ rolled back the years with a long-awaited victory at the United States Grand Prix and, as he gets to ready to embark on his final chapter in Formula 1, he has been asked for his thoughts about how the sport can improve.

Raikkonen was asked whether he would swap being able to drop all media work for a drop in his salary, he replied: “No, I don’t want this.

“I think everybody would go. But I don’t think that media makes the salary.

“People always complain that ‘oh F1 is not exciting’, ‘it’s not this’, or something like ‘why are people not interested so much?’.

“But to be honest, I think how much bullshit there is in the media, and stories and gossips and stuff – if that wouldn’t be that much, I think F1 would be much better.

“People try to create so much nonsense that it actually starts harming F1.

“I think if there would be less nonsense and more actual things that are true it would be better for F1 in many ways.”

Raikkonen is one of the old school drivers who raced in F1 before social media rose to prominence. Both he and Fernando Alonso are considered the veterans of the sport. But, come 2019, The 39-year old will be the only one left as Alonso will be retiring from Formula One.

Meanwhile, Raikkonen himself is headed to the Alfa Romeo-Sauber team to partner Antonio Giovinazzi.

Interestingly, despite is aloof nature, the Finn still remains as one of the most popular drivers.
