The 2022 Players Championship is currently underway at the TPC Sawgrass. However, they suspended the majority of day one due to dangerous weather conditions. Hence, round one will begin early on Friday, as players who are yet to finish will tee off and then start their round two.

The possibility of all players completing their two rounds on Friday is minimal. So it is likely that the second round will get extended to Saturday even if there is no weather interruption. Amidst the chaos on the course, what also caught fans’ attention were yellow and blue ribbons on the caps of many players. Notably, here’s the reason behind it.

This gesture was notably done as a show of solidarity to Ukraine as it battles through a political catastrophe.

Meanwhile, Players Championship is the flagship event of the PGA Tour, and this year the purse for this event is $20 million. Hence, players will be eager to win the event this week and get their hands on the trophy.

After round one, Tommy Fleetwood and Tom Hoge lead the event with a score of -6. However, there are four golfers right behind them with a score of -5. Nevertheless, there are plenty of players who are yet to finish their first round. So the leaderboard will see a lot of upheavals.

But that being said, it is highly unlikely we will see a different leader after all players finish their first round. They might join Fleetwood and Tom at the top, but going past them looks highly unlikely.
