The PGA Tour players and officials had a meeting on Tuesday where they had discussions on numerous topics. They had scheduled this meeting ahead of the Honda Classic at PGA National. Moreover, what made this meeting imperative was the recent surge in the news of the Saudi-backed league. 

To clear their stance and provide everyone with clarity, this meeting was very crucial. And the PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan tried to provide as much clarity as possible regarding all the issues. Moreover, he even told players to move on from Saudi League as it was not going to happen.

According to Golf Digest, a player in attendance revealed that Jay Monahan roughly spent 10 minutes talking about the rival Saudi League. He also said that the PGA Tour commissioner reiterated the stance of the tour and said anyone who signs with the league will face a ban from the Tour. “He basically was talking like it’s not going to happen, and that it’s time to move on and stop talking about it,” the source said.

Moreover, they discussed a potential change in the fall season schedule from 2023. Notably, restructuring the fall schedule is what prominent players want. The source told GolfDigest that players generally agreed that golfers need more breaks, and hence if they separate the fall events from the FedExCup, it would give players greater flexibility. 

Additionally, players also expressed a desire for more transparency from the PGA Tour on its finances. Tour has now revealed that purses will keep increasing, and the Players Championship is likely to have $25 million by 2025. Furthermore, even the major championships will follow the same graph.
