‘I’ve Never Cried So Much’: Kevin Na Gets Emotional After Winning the QBE Shootout

Kevin Na and Jason Kokrak won the QBE Shootout on Sunday. This unofficial PGA Tour is a team event with a decent field this year. Moreover, Na and Kokrak carded -33 for the event and won the event by a stroke. Meanwhile, Billy Horschel and Sam Burns were just a stroke behind them.
Kevin Na was coming back from an injury, so people expected a bit of rustiness in his game. However, he was incredible with his game and also had a wonderful in-form partner, Jason Kokrak. They have delivered some incredible performances in the past as individuals. But this time, they were unstoppable as a team.

Kevin Na and Jason Kokrak managed to register a win in the OBE Shootout. However, Kevin Na became emotional during the post-round interview. He explained the hard time he has been through in the last couple of months and also said that he has never cried so much in the past month.

“I lost two good friends of mine in the past month. One of them was Kenny Lee, a guy from Vegas, that he’s a very influential person in Vegas who passed away. And my childhood friend, Dusty Smith, that I grew up playing golf with at Western Hills Country Club in California. He died of a heart attack. And it really hit me,” said Na, as his voice choked.

Moreover, Kevin said he has memories of him coming to the Masters and said Dusty even has caddied for Kevin. “He caddied for me U.S. Junior, U.S. Am, at pro golf events. I mean, I’ve never cried so much in the past month. I think he was up there helping us out. And I want to thank both of them, and I think it wouldn’t have been possible without them.”

Meanwhile, Kevin Na and Jason Kokrak had an incredible run of birdies in the final round. They had a combined nine straight birdies and ended up having 12 birdies in their first 13 holes. But even after this outstanding performance, Kevin Na remembered his friends and said they were helping him, which is an incredible gesture.
