Rory McIlroy is one of the most prominent names on the PGA Tour. He recently won the 2021 CJ Cup and registered his 20th victory on the Tour. Moreover, along with 20 PGA Tour wins, he even has four major triumphs in his career so far and is looking to complete a career grand slam by winning the green jacket at Augusta.
Meanwhile, Rory had a lean patch for a couple of years. He was struggling to find his game, especially after the pandemic break. Hence, before the 2021 Masters at Augusta, he hired a new swing coach, Peter Cowen. And since then, they have been working together and trying to improve Rory’s game.

But after the recent victory at the CJ Cup, Peter was not seen anywhere with Rory. Hence, there was speculation among the media and fans that they aren’t working together anymore. However, Peter Cowen recently opened up about this and put an end to all the rumors.
Peter Cowen opens up about his stand with Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy registered a win after a long time with an excellent performance in Vegas. But since there was no mention and sight of Peter Cowen, people speculated a split between these two. And that’s what Rory McIlroy’s coach Peter Cowen addressed recently after several media houses tried to contact him in the last 72 hours.
“It seems, because I was not with him last week in Las Vegas when he won the CJ Cup on the PGA Tour, everyone assumes we are not together,” said Peter. “Does anyone realize that I cannot be with all my players, all the time, wherever in the world they are playing?”

Peter Cowen explains his role with Rory
Peter Cowen said Michael Bannon had built Rory’s swing, and he still is very much involved with Rory. But he doesn’t travel with him much these days. Moreover, he also said that he recently had a talk with Rory, and they had a good chat about his upcoming schedule.

Furthermore, he also explained his role with Rory McIlroy. “It seems that Rory is getting his feel back into his game, rather than just trying to find more strength and length, which is not Rory’s style. This is a process that he has had to go through and learn for himself. To get that feel back, he had to go back to the basic fundamentals of the game, which is, hopefully, where I have made a difference.”
Hence, Peter Cowen has made it pretty clear that they still are working together. So, hopefully, he will guide the Irishman to a couple of more victories this season.
